FUN DAY this year will look a little different due to ongoing construction—but it’s also a great opportunity for parents to spend time in the classroom.
Instead of a traditional outdoor field day, we’re inviting parents to lead fun, engaging classroom activities for students.

Quiet Bingo
Grade Level: K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Description:Calm, structured bingo game to reset energy.
Instructions:
Hand out bingo cards and markers/chips.
Explain rules: listen, mark, no calling out.
Call items slowly using pictures or words.
Pause to check for bingo after each call set.
Play 2–3 short rounds.
Optional: small prizes or class applause.

Dance Tutorial
Grade Level: K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Description:Follow a simple guided dance routine.
Instructions:

Career Spotlight Activity

Description:Parent-led activity based on a profession.
Instructions:
Parent gives a brief introduction to their job.
Parent leads a related mini activity.

Cultural Spotlight
Grade Level: K, 1, 2, 3, 4, 5
Description:Share information about your culture or another culture with students.
Instructions:Share information about history, people, geography, customs, food, music, art, photos, videos, or other meaningful elements of the culture.
Materials Needed:Whatever materials you decide to share. This might include music, food, a coloring page, photos, videos, art, or other items.
K–1 Activities
Story Time
Grade Level: K, 1
Description: Students create a visual story using stickers and share a short narrative.
Instructions:
Give each student paper and stickers
Create a picture that tells a story

Play-Doh Creation Challenge
Grade Level: K, 1
Description: Build animals, food, or characters using Play-Doh
Instructions:

Shape Monster Craft
Grade Level: K, 1
Description:Create monsters using basic shapes to reinforce shape recognition and creativity.
Instructions:
Give each student paper and pre-cut shapes such as circles, squares, and triangles.
Explain they will build a monster using only shapes.
Allow 10–12 minutes to arrange and glue shapes.
Add details such as eyes, mouth, and arms with markers.
Have students name their monster.
Share with a partner or table group.

Paper Plate Masks
Grade Level: K, 1
Description:Students design a wearable mask using a paper plate and simple decorations.
Instructions:
Give each student a paper plate and markers.
Explain they will create an animal or character mask.
Allow 10–12 minutes to decorate.
Optional: attach yarn to the sides for wearing.
Have students hold up and describe their mask.
Optional: short seated show and tell.

Pass the Drawing
Grade Level: K, 1
Description:Collaborative drawing where students add to each other’s pictures in timed rounds.
Instructions:
Give each student a sheet of paper and marker or pencil.
Start a drawing for 1 minute.
Call “pass” and have students pass to the right.
Repeat 5–6 rounds, adding each time.
Return drawings to the original owner.
Reveal and discuss the funny results.
Optional: vote for favorites.

Build-a-Pet Workshop
Grade Level: K, 1
Description:Students invent and draw a new pet and describe its traits.
Instructions:
Give each student paper and drawing tools.
Ask them to draw a new pet, real or imaginary.
Prompt students to include a name, what it eats, and where it lives.
Allow 10–15 minutes to draw and label.
Share with a partner or table.
Optional: a few students share with the class.

Directed Drawing + Personalization
Grade Level: K, 1
Description:Teacher-led drawing followed by student customization.
Instructions:
Lead a simple step-by-step drawing such as an animal or monster.
Pause between steps so students can follow.
After the base drawing, allow students to customize.
Add colors, patterns, accessories, and background.
Share with table or class.

Roll-a-Monster Game
Grade Level: K, 1
Description:Dice-based drawing game where each roll determines a feature.
Instructions:
Explain the key, such as 1 = eyes, 2 = mouth, 3 = arms, 4 = legs, 5 = color, 6 = extra.
Students roll a die and draw the corresponding feature.
Repeat for 4–6 rolls to complete the monster.
Color and name the monster.
Share with a partner or table.

Grades 2–3 Activities
Paper Airplane Competition
Grade Level: 2, 3
Description:Students design, test, and improve paper airplanes.
Instructions:
Demonstrate one basic fold.
Allow 5–7 minutes to build.
Test flights from desks or a designated lane.
Discuss what worked and what didn’t.
Allow redesign and rebuild.
Final test and compare distance or accuracy.

Would You Rather: Debate Edition
Grade Level: 2, 3
Description:Students choose between two options and explain their reasoning.
Instructions:
Pose a question, such as “Would you rather live in space or underwater?”
Students choose a side by raising a hand or pointing.
Turn to a partner and give 1–2 reasons.
Invite a few students to share with the class.
Repeat with 2–3 more questions.
Optional: class vote each round.

Cup Stack Challenge
Grade Level: 2, 3
Description: Students learn and perform stacking patterns with cups.
Instructions:
Give each student or group a set of cups.
Teach a simple stacking pattern slowly.
Practice together 2–3 times.
Challenge students to complete the pattern smoothly or quickly.
Optional: add a second pattern or relay by table.

Mystery Bag Invention
Grade Level: 2, 3
Description:Groups invent something using a small set of random items.
Instructions:
Divide class into small groups.
Give each group a bag of 3–5 items.
Explain they must create an invention using all items.
Allow 10–12 minutes to design, draw, or build.
Each group names and explains their invention.
Optional: class vote.

Pictionary — Table Version
Grade Level: 2, 3
Description:Drawing and guessing game played in small groups.
Instructions:

Tabletop Minute-to-Win-It
Grade Level: 2, 3
Description:Short, rotating desk challenges.
Instructions:
Set up 2–3 simple challenges at desks, such as cup stack, ping pong bounce, or cotton ball transfer.
Explain each station quickly.
Students try each challenge for 5–7 minutes.
Rotate or reset for a second round.
Optional: keep score or celebrate completions.

Classroom Game Show
Grade Level: 2, 3
Description:Trivia-based team game.
Instructions:
Divide class into teams.

Paper Chain Engineering
Grade Level: 2, 3

Instructions:

Grade Level: 2, 3
Description:Students create a short 3–4 panel comic.
Instructions:
Provide or draw a 3–4 panel template.

Exquisite Corpse Drawing

Instructions:

Fold to hide, leaving a small guide line.
Pass to the right.
Draw the body for 3–4 minutes, fold, and pass again.

Test runs.

Description:Competitive version of Pictionary with teams and scoring.
Instructions:

Description:Students create and perform short skits.

Parent Guidelines
Please plan for about 25 minutes of activity time per time slot - a double time slot should be 50-55 minutes.
Deadline to sign up: Friday, May 8th.
Activities should:
Stay contained to desks or a small classroom area
Work for approximately 20–28 students
Be simple enough to explain quickly
Include all needed supplies
Be pre-portioned when possible
Please avoid:
Water-based activities
Messy materials
Complicated setup
Activities that require lots of classroom movement
