We are seeking 1 parent representative for election to the River Ridge Elementary
School Based Decision Making (SBDM) Council. There is currently one (1) position to
be included on the ballot. The position is for a 2-year term (through June 2028). The
candidate with the highest number of votes will secure the 2-year position.
To be eligible to run for the election, you must be a parent, step-parent or legal guardian
of a child enrolled at River Ridge Elementary School for the 2026-2027 school year. A
person is ineligible if he/she is an employee of the school, or a relative of an employee
of that school or the district or central office, or a local school board member or the
spouse of a school board member.
The River Ridge Elementary SBDM Council has the responsibility to set school policy
and make decisions outlined in statute, which is to provide an environment to enhance
student achievement.
Each parent representative must attend training, which is provided by the Kenton
County School District. First-year members must attend a class that is approximately 6
hours in length. Previous members must attend a refresher class that is approximately
3 hours in length.
The River Ridge Elementary School SBDM Council meets at least once per month for
approximately 1 1⁄2 hours but can also have more meetings during the month, if needed.
Regularly scheduled meetings are currently held at 4:30pm. Parent representatives
may also be involved in school employment interviews throughout the school year,
including the summer.
In order to nominate yourself for election, this application and necessary attachments must be submitted to the River Ridge PTO via email at ptoriverridge@gmail.com or turned in to the school. Applications must be received no later than Tuesday, September 8th. The election will take place during RRE Timberwolf Rallies held on September 9th (grades PK-2) and September 10th (grades 3-5) from 6pm -7pm at the school.
